Content is more important than anything else here. Keep your community looped in on the top five relevant news stories of the week, tell them what they can be involved in, and give them an opportunity to send their own input for further communications.
Don’t use the platform as a soap-box for one person’s rants.
Make sure it’s inclusive, and share the load - it doesn’t have to be one person emailing everyone every week, use the opportunity to gather material as a collective.
Brand your group.
